Rebel diplomacy in Burma: understanding its structures, processes, and mechanisms among the country's revolutionary actors
This paper analyzes the diplomatic efforts undertaken by a variety of Burma’s revolutionary actors in response to the 2021 military coup. Drawing on primary data from interviews, the paper provides an evidence-based understanding of “rebel diplomacy”—the strategies used by these actors challenging state authority to gain recognition and resources through engagement with foreign nations and the international system.
